Postgraduate Study The university system is very new to Luxembourg. The University of Luxembourg (http://www.univ.lu/) is the only university in the country and was founded in 2003. Older institutions such as the Centre Universitaire de Luxembourg now make up several of the faculties at the new university. Courses are offered in many of the major disciplines including finance, economics, science and law. The curriculum is expanding yearly. Another of major educational institution is the IUIL - Institut Universitaire International Luxembourg (http://www.iuil.lu/). Founded in 1974, this Institute offers management programmes including MBAs. Many courses are run in conjunction with other institutions. French is the language most widely used in these educational institutions. It is possible to study for an MBA in Luxembourg at the US-based Sacred Heart University Luxembourg Campus, which has a branch in the country. The course takes between one and a half and three years to complete depending on the student's other commitments. Although the numbers enrolling at the new university are set to increase, much of the local student population will still continue to choose universities in the neighbouring countries such as France, Belgium or Germany. Higher education and careers support With the university system in its infancy, most educational institutions will only offer limited career guidance. In both education and local government institutions, career guidance tends to stream people and help them adjust to the perceived realities of the labour market, rather than helping individuals realise their potential and raise their aspirations. This trend is changing with the development of the university system. Careers guidance can formally be sought from the Ministere du Travail et de I'Emploi (Ministry of Employment) Luxembourg.
